Owner Massimo Ranni learned everything he needed to know about bread from his grandmother at the family bakery just outside of Rome. At Il Forno bakery, all of the bread is made by hand and baked in a five-deck hearthstone oven from Italy. His filone and pagnotta have been rated #1 by the New York Times, but perhaps his most exceptional bread is the pizza Romana, a crisp flatbread topped with paper thin potatoes, coarse salt, rosemary and extra virgin olive oil.  Massimo tells me that this bread represents the region that he's from in Italy. After one bite, I wanted to buy a ticket and travel there."
